Traditionally passive and despised people have become more conscious of their rights and begun to demand that their dignity be honoured and rights respected. People claiming to their own subject is neither an accident, nor a particular happening. It is more pervasive then we comprehend and more universal a phenomenon in that no social system so far devised can safely accommodate their historic assertions of self. It is an historic tide rather than the result of the designs of a few pioneers of the time. This phenomenon can neither be neatly defined nor can its implications be fully grasped. Already, this tide is making many fearful and others anxious. Many attempts have been made to curb and control it, but to no avail .The principalities and powers contrive to stop it , try to threaten it and plot to tame it.
